Working in human resource can be very challenging, and yes, rather tiring as well. You need to do so many things, and in a start-up, you need to do more than you would at any big corporation. In most companies, specifically those that are already established, when you are an HR officer, your main role would be to look for, screen, and recommend applicants for certain positions within the organization. In my case, since I work for a start-up, I do more than just that.
Looking for, and buying office furniture was not really part of my job description when I first got the job as HR officer in the company, but it soon became one of the tasks that fell squarely to me to do. No complaints here, especially since shopping is one of my favorite things to do after all. Add to that the fact that I can actually buy what we need without leaving the office.
Finding a site called Timeless Elements while searching for office items was actually a relief, especially when I was swamped with documents to process, people to interview, and ads to post. We needed quite a number of items for the company, what with the sudden influx of new-hires that needed work stations and equipment. This site was where I found almost everything I needed.
First up, workstations. I was able to find the desks we required on the site. The double pedestal desks that were being sold at a discount (which was almost 30% lower than its original price) was our best bet. With so many choices however, it was a close race between this desk and two others.
Since these stations also needed chairs, I was also able to find what we needed here. Since we had to stay within a strict budget, I opted for the executive mid chairs that were just a little over a hundred dollars each. There were other great choices as well, but this fit the bill perfectly.
Next thing I needed to get were the office accessories that each desk needed. The site did not carry too many of this, and did not really offer much in terms of variety, so all I added from this particular part of the site to our shopping cart were the desk organizers.
All in all, the site did give me the convenience of getting most of what we needed for the office with minimal hassle on my part. I did not need to go out of the office to shop for these things, and was able to have these delivered to our building at no extra charge. My boss is definitely happy about my choices, plus the fact that we did not need to pay additional sales tax on our purchases.
