My son’s birthday is coming up, and I have decided to get him the newest console that he has been asking for. I have not yet told him about this, and am planning to surprise him with it. Now, my dilemma is this. My hubby wants in on the surprise, and since I already purchased the console a few days ago, I am thinking of telling him to get something else – that is until I saw a few things that I felt will go with what I bought.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I am not what some people might call an “enabler”, you know, that person who enables a child to become a spoiled, lazy person. I don’t do that, and I don’t believe what we are planning is going to change our son. He is, after all, a studious kid who follows rules and seldom goes against what we say, so we feel that getting him his console is warranted.

Anyway, what I saw when I was browsing a few days ago after my husband brought up the idea of a shared gift, was something that could make this birthday present even more amazing. What I happened upon was a gaming seat in the form of a race car seat, and since the unit I bought can be hooked up to an accessory that makes it easier to play driving games, I figured, why not get him the seat and the driving gear as well? My hubby could pay for these since I already got the unit, that way, we can still have a rather consolidated gift.
After I brought up the idea to my better half, he checked the seat out and agreed that the idea was awesome. He also found a few things on the shopping site that was selling this particular piece of gaming furniture, and ended up buying himself a few things for his basement man-cave (or whatever he calls that room he watches football with friends in). The cost? Well, the seat was being sold at a huge discount (as were the items he purchased), so I’d say we don’t really have to worry about how much we shelled out for this present.
We sure hope our son loves this idea as much as we enjoyed cooking it up for him. His birthday is in a few days, and the seat should arrive in a few days as well (along with everything else, except for the console, which is hidden in my undies drawer). I can’t wait to see his reaction when we give all this to him.
