If you look at what people are saying online, you will notice that most of them say that women who want to climb the corporate ladder don’t want kids, or don’t have time to have kids. It has even been pointed out that most of the women who succeed in their chosen field are actually childless. Is this a coincidence or does not having a child equates to more success, when it comes to women and their careers anyway?
Let us face the facts. Having a child can be a very taxing endeavour in more ways than one. Raising a child is expensive, and is one of the reasons why women who want to get to the pinnacle of their careers forgo motherhood. Some of them believe that having the kind of finances a career woman needs to get ahead can only be achieved if they remain childless.

Another reason why some career women choose to go child-free for the duration of their lives, even if they are married, is because of the time children seem to demand from a parent. They cannot afford to spend that much time on things other than their advancement in the corporate world and any parent who has kids can attest that yes, kids can eat up a lot of your time.
Also cited as a reason why career women decide not to have kids is the energy it would take to raise one. Even if, shall we say, the person has enough resources and time to have a kid, the energy it takes to take care of one and to ensure that they grow up to be responsible and decent adults can also be substantial. This is something some career women do not want to deal with.
While a huge majority of women with bustling careers do decide to not have kids for the sake of their advancement in the business world, this is not the norm. I, for one, have a rather good career, if I do say so myself. And I have two kids at home, who I believe are no hindrance whatsoever to my corporate dreams and ambitions. In fact, my kids inflame me to try harder to do my best.
The key to having a good work life and a good home life at the same time is in finding a balance. I think I have found that balance. Another thing that I think helps me is the fact that I do not want to go too high up that corporate ladder. Maybe that is what keeps me from regretting having kids, or not wanting them in the first place.
